Tribute to Toshi Ichiyanagi
January 27, 2024 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$30Duo YUMENO is joined by special guest Vicky Chow, one of the leading pianists of her generation, to present a tribute concert for Toshi Ichiyanagi (1933 – 2022), a protégé of John Cage and an esteemed Japanese composer who had a profound influence on the post-war Japanese music landscape.

Highlights include Paraphrase for shamisen and cello (2019), which was commissioned by the duo, Time Sequence (1976), a dazzling piano solo in the style of minimal music, as well as Linked Poems of Autumn (1990), Ichiyanagi’s tribute to the Japanese koto-song tradition that features texts by Matsuo Bashō.
